updates
Why isn't anyone posting updates anymore? We've been calling people and emailing so we know there is what to update but due to the time zone differences and other constraints it would help a great deal if updates will be posted as well.
New update!
I thought i would update everyone- we just spent an amazing shabbos with zaidy/tatti in brighton beach. It was a restful wonderful shabbos- we went for a visit on thursday and mommy was not too comfortable- she was itchy and a little overwhelmed.
but wow what a few days can do! we went again today, sunday and i am so amazed by the change. she was completely aware of who i am and tried to talk to me. she looked like she was saying something so i gave her the white board and a marker and instead of writing our clever mommy took the marker and held it up by her ear like talking on the phone! at first i was confused, thinking she was going to color on her head, but then i understood and asked her if she wanted to make a phone call. i told her to blink twice for yes. and ...she blinked twice. so i asked her who does she want to call, and she made a motion like to write and i started with alef, then bais then i went to gimmel and she pointed to the alef again. so i added a alef and realized she spelled aba. so i asked her if she wants to call tatti and she blinked twice. he was driving, so i told her that we'll do better cause he was on his way to visit her!!
she was so relieved. and when he came in the room she stretched out both arms to him- yup- both! she can move her right arm quite well! an amazing change from even thursday and an even more amazing change from 2 weeks ago when the doctors said she would not regain movement int he right side at all!
At one point she took both arms held on to the bed rail and pulled herself up to a sitting position. she can move her right leg quite well too!
they have this glove that theyput on her left arm to make sure she doesn't dislodge any wires or tubes, and when she wears it she gives you these dirty looks, then these pleading looks like take this off! and what the nurses will find out is that she will soon need 2 gloves B"H!! cause when her left hand is gloved she just used her right!
It was so wonderful to be there and take care of her- but more so to be able to figure out what she wants.
the therapist came by and tried brushing her teeth and she gives her a look and just plucks the toothbrush out her hand! and then she brushed her teeth the front, back all around.
she also was able to clearly tell me "I want" and then "please" and then when we took care of what she needed she picked up her hand to my face and stroked it with a look of such gratitude.
also when the therapist wanted her to sit up on the edge of the bed she sort of slumped over. but then i told her if she wants to come home sooner then she will need to work harder than she ever has and follow the instructions and do what they want. so she took her arms and braced herself on either side and sat up as straight as she could! amazing.
I would love to call up those doctors who gave such a negative prognosis and show then all what amazing things she can do!!!
also wednesday is tattis birthday and maybe we can all brainstorm what we can do for him?
anyway sorry for the long post-
we should only continue to hear amazing news.

From Chani
Btw nice story- I always tell the women that it is a special time to ask for blessings etc. etc. but belief is a very hard thing to have….
For a while I told them that it is a special time to request children – so one woman went home and sweated away over the dough(she had 2 girls and desperately wanted a boy for her husband to bring to shul – they were becoming more observant etc. but she had 2 miscarriages and thought that’s that). This was a class before rosh hashana last year – she really poured it all out over that challah and conceived before rosh hashana then made a commitment to come to shul and jli classes the whole year so she’d have a boy and now she has a 6 month old baby boy.
Anyhow… I have my class once a month and don’t usually make challah every week but decided last week to do it for my mother. The kids were with me and I made the bracha and said a yehi ratzon that my mother should be able to use her own hands and bake challah very soon. I felt very positive and uplifted like the energy of the mitzvah was already working. I braided the first challah and literally one minute later Tzvi called me and said “did u hear the good news? Mommy is rubbing her eyes and moving her hands!” It was so special – I have a few stories that happened this week like that I know I need to blog it but if you could please tell me how to post….

Hodu Lashem Ki Tov Ki Leolam Chasdo...and how it all started for me...
B"H for all the good news!
I thought I'd share what happened just before I started to get the first trickle of good news may it continue speedily and to a complete recovery.
I went to a bris thursday morning which was for all the rest of you wed. evening. Before the bris I heard from Chaim Tzvi Groner that it's told that when the baby cries during the bris the cries ascend straight to Kisay Hakovod and that any tefillos and bakoshos recited at that time also ascend with it all the way to the Kisay Hokovod. I therefore made sure to stand next to kisay Eliyahu and right after the bris while the baby was still crying from the bris, I recited kappitel Chof for mommy and begged she should have a refuah sheleimah.
About an hour or two later I arrived to work and the first thing I did was call Tatty to ask for the latest news. This was after 2 weeks of not hearing anything new other than the fact that mommy had opened her eyes a few times. Tatty then told me that B"H she is being moved out of the ICU and since then the good news keeps coming in leaps and bounds! May we all keep up with all the Tehillim, Mi Sheberach's and Nedorim leTzedokoh for Mommys complete and speedy recovery and may I also suggest we be sure to add Kappitel 100 - Mizmor Lesodah - to express our thanks and gratitude to Hashem for the progress we have so far witnessed.
As I first mentioned it to Tatty and he echoed that in subsequent conversations I had with him, when I book my ticket it should be with the kavanah that I'm coming in for nothing less than for a seudas Hoda'ah! I hope I"YH to do that today!

Hudo LaHashem Kitov!!!!
Amazing amazing steps forward - no words!
My mother did the morning shift this morning , she was mostly sleeping - woke up a bit and then the nurse said they were going to clean her up and try to get her into a chair.
My mother called me so emotional -"She's seating up! She's seating up!" They had her sitting all by herself in a chair - Baila told my mother take a picture with your phone. So my mother told Bubby smile I'm going to take a picture and Bubby mouthed and shook her head "No!"
So my mother on speaker with Baila said - bring some makeup and her sheitel, she doesn't want her picture taken like this.
Continue storming the heavens - G-d is listening and answering our prayers and we should acknowledge and exhalt his greatness!

THE NEWS WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
B"H!
2 days ago, they moved bubby from the ICU to a more comfortable room.
last night Pearl was there and bubby opened her eyes, and now responds to commands!
Pearl told her to open her eyes, then she did. then pick up your right hand, and she did! she looked like she wanted to speak, and pearl explanied to her that she can't becasue of the tracheotomy-
she picked up her hand to her head, and then bent the fingers to scratch her head!
the doctors at first said its just reflexes, but then pearl showed them that she is responding to what she says!
